Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 4, 2026
HomeAlmanac is built so that your information stays with you. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does and does not do with your data. The short version: your records live on your device, there is no account, and we do not track you.
The short version
Your home records are stored on your device. HomeAlmanac has no account system, collects no personal profile, and does not track you across apps or websites. We do not sell data, because we do not have your data.
What we store and where
Everything you add to HomeAlmanac, including homes, appliances, tasks, documents, photos, and notes, is stored locally on your device. This local data is included in your normal device backup. We do not receive a copy.
Optional iCloud sync
If you enable iCloud sync, available with a Premium plan, your records are synced between your own Apple devices through your personal iCloud account. This data is handled by Apple under Apple’s terms and is not accessible to HomeAlmanac. You can turn sync off at any time.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email, contacts, precise location, or browsing activity. We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs that build a profile of you. The app does not require you to create an account or provide personal information to work.
Camera and photo access
HomeAlmanac asks for camera and photo access only so you can scan nameplates and attach images of manuals, receipts, and your home. These images are stored on your device. Text recognition runs on your device using Apple frameworks and is not sent to us.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, they are scheduled on your device to remind you about maintenance. The content of your reminders stays on your device.
Purchases
Premium plans are sold through the App Store. Apple processes payment and shares standard, anonymized purchase information needed to deliver and validate your subscription. We never see your payment details.
Diagnostics
If you choose to send a diagnostic report or contact support, you control what you include. We use anything you send only to answer your request.
Keeping or deleting your data
Because your records live on your device, you decide how long they are kept. They stay until you remove them. You can delete any home, appliance, document, photo, or note inside the app, and you can remove everything at once by deleting the app. We keep no copy on a server, so there is no account to close and nothing for us to delete on our end.
If you turned on iCloud sync, a copy also sits in your own iCloud account. Turning sync off in the app stops further syncing, and you can remove the stored copy in your device settings under your Apple ID. You can withdraw any permission you gave the app, such as camera, photos, or notifications, at any time in the iOS Settings app.
Your privacy rights
Because your data stays with you, you already hold the rights that privacy laws describe. You can view every record in the app, correct or update it, delete it, and export a full copy whenever you want using the export tools. There is no profile held by us to request, change, or hand over.
If you live in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. We would rather hear from you first at support@handlerlabs.app so we can help.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom
HomeAlmanac is operated by Handler Labs LLC in the United States. For the limited processing described below we are the data controller, and you can reach us at support@handlerlabs.app.
Two things involve your personal data, and both are ordinary internet plumbing rather than anything we set out to gather. When the app checks for new safety recalls, and when you visit this website, your device connects to servers operated for us by Cloudflare. That connection carries your IP address, the time of the request, and your browser or device type. Your appliance list is never sent anywhere. The recall list is a single file that every device downloads, and the comparison against your appliances happens entirely on your device.
Our legal basis is legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR: delivering the files you asked for and keeping the service available and secure. We do not use this information to build a profile of you, we do not combine it with anything else, and we never sell or share it for advertising. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
The recipients are Cloudflare, which hosts this website and the recall file, and Apple, which distributes the app and processes any purchase. Because we operate from the United States, this information is handled there.
We keep no server logs ourselves. Cloudflare processes these requests on our behalf and keeps only what it needs briefly for security and reliability.
You have the right to request access to your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to have its processing restricted, to receive it in a portable form, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Those are Articles 15 to 21 of the GDPR. In practice there is very little for us to act on, because we hold no account and no profile for you, but we will always answer.
Under Article 77 you also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in the country where you live, where you work, or where you believe the problem happened. We would rather hear from you first at support@handlerlabs.app so we can put it right.
Children
HomeAlmanac is made for adults managing a household. It is not directed at children, including children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because your records stay on your device and we never receive a copy, there is no child’s information for us to hold in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and note the change in the app or on this page.
